The Wheatsheaf of Corbridge represented exactly the kind of opportunity Heritage Inns was created to address. Despite its strong location, historic character, and importance to the local community, the pub was underperforming and at risk of decline, with a high turnover of tenants and a longstanding period of instability.

By taking over The Wheatsheaf, we were able to preserve a valued heritage asset, protect local employment, and reinvest in both the building and its operation. With thoughtful restoration and long-term management, the pub has been repositioned as a thriving inn — combining quality accommodation, food and drink, and renewed community relevance.

The project demonstrates our core belief: that failing pubs with strong fundamentals can be restored into sustainable, profitable hospitality businesses, delivering long-term value while keeping an important community hub alive.
